Introducing our Team Members

Hi everybody! We are the training team for this Web 2.0 programme.

Our team has 6 members:
- Nancy Chan (Collection Development)
- Amy Kok (Reference)
- Diana Tsui (Reference)
- Kevin Yiu (Systems)
- Antonia Yiu (Information Literacy) - Team Leader

Dr Bob Fox (Faculty of Education) is also with us. He provides us with valuable advice in the organization of this programme.

May we introduce ourselves to you.

Nancy Chan (Collection Development)

Meet my little helper, Lok Lok (樂樂), who was sitting at my desk in CD Office!

Before being the Business & Economics Faculty Librarian, I joinned Librarian's Office, Systems & Reference for different positions and duties. My major responsibilites now are to build library resources on Business & Economics and provide relevant library services & user education to my faculty.

Amy Kok (Reference)

Hello everyone! My name is Amy. I work at Reference Department. My job duties are helping users to locate information, maintaining the reference collection, assisting in setting up exhibition and giving library tours to visitors. When you see me at the Reference Counter, please come & meet!!!

Diana Tsui (Reference)

Being one of the team members in Reference Department, I work closely with my colleagues in answering reference enquiries, conducting library courses, preparing research guides and giving library tours to visitors. Before joining Reference, I worked in Dental Library since I have been employed in HKU. I am lucky enough to have working experience in branch as well as in Main Library where I find myself quite happy to serve different types of users.

來看看我的兩個小淘氣 - 樂衡和梓衡, 他們可是很愛玩的小孩呢!

Kevin Yiu (Systems)

Hi there. This is Kevin from Systems, HKUL. My responsibilities are on call support, public PC maintenance, EZ Proxy setup, WebBridge setup...etc.
We can use web 2.0 technology to preserve our memory. For example, we can use wiki to "Share Your Memory @ HKUL". And here i want to share the photos of the tree at 開心公園. This is one of the landmark of HKU.

May 2008

Nov 2008 (top right hand corner)

April 2009

and finally...June 2009

If we are using flicr. We can tag the photos with keywords. Share it to the rest of the world (perhaps aliens on Mars)We can only included some of the web 2.0 platform in our training programme. If you know any web 2.0 platform that is interesting, please let us know. Thanks!

Yiu, Antonia (Information Literacy Knowledge Management)

我跟大學圖書館有幾十年的情懷. 這絕非說笑. When I was a student, the New Wing has not been erected. So, you can imagine it has been a long long time since my first acquaintance with HKU Library. In those days, the main entrance of the library facing north has a flight of staircase leading to the Main Building. Both sides of the staircase were greens dotted with small shrubs of azaleas (杜鵑花), which would bloom as exam time approaches. I can still remember the days when we need to line up in the early hours outside the library in hope to secure a place to study and prepare for our exams. Friends wishing to get a healthy tan while studying would opt for one of the seats on the 4th floor facing north. For those who prefer a garden view would go for the 1st floor facing south. From there, you will be overlooking the little "garden" with a path that would lead you to the Haking Wong complex - 有些往事是多麼的有趣!

If I could bring today's technology back to the old days, perhaps I will be able to share all these memories with you more vividly. It is not too late to do it in 2010 though - 只要有心, 再配合科技, 這是有可能的! We can capitalize on the Web 2.0 technology and share valuable memories about this library. And, that is one of the aims of this training programme.

我也是一個初學者 - I have to admit that I am a novice in Web 2.0. But, while preparing this training programme, I've come to learn a bit more about the Web 2.0 tools. And, what's more important, I find learning so much fun, especially with the wonderful team spirit in our OP group.

So, we sincerely welcome you aboard this programme! Let us join the fun and play with these Web 2.0 tools. So, wish you will enjoy this Share Your Memory @ HKUL training programme. Have fun! 請享受這個學習的過程.
